Human DNA contains more organized information than the Encyclopedia Britannica. If the full text of the encyclopedia were to arrive in computer code from outer space, most people would regard this as proof of the existence of extraterrestrial intelligence. But when seen in nature, it is explained as the working of random forces.
George Sim Johnson
We are, by astronomical standards, a pampered, cossetted, cherished group of creatures; our Darwinian claim to have done it all ourselves is as ridiculous and as charming as a baby’s brave efforts to stand on its own feet and refuse his mother’s hand. If the universe had not been made with the most exacting precision we could never have come into existence. It is my view that these circumstances indicate the universe was created for man to live in.
John A. O’Keefe, Astronomer
These are only a sampling of interviews with renowned astronomers, cosmologist, scientist, and philosophers. Lee Strobel has collected discussions with the cream of the crop when it comes to brilliant minds in his book, The Case for the Creator.
It is an in-depth look at The Big Bang theory, Evolution and all its theories, and Creation. It is mind opening and…exhausting. My poor brain can not comprehend all the science, the math, the philosophy. I thought I was pretty bright but this book is complicated and I find myself reading the same sentence over and over and over. I really want to be done with it, to be honest.
Lee Strobel goes into the whole Evolution idea. It turns out that there were 4 models for the theory of Evolution; The Stanley Miller Experiment, Darwin’s “Tree of Life”, Ernst Haeckel’s Drawings of Embryos, and The Missing Link.
I will not go into it all because I can’t. I would have to read the book five more times, however, basically, all the Evolutionary models and theories have been collapsed by the further investigation of the scientist over the decades and another proven incident called “The Cambrian Explosion”. That is the result of animals just suddenly appearing on earth. There were some jellyfish and starfish and then, WAMO, life! There is no evidence of us evolving from a tadpole on up to cave man status and onward to Wall Street. They did find a cave man and replicated it to look like a prehistoric man. Turns out that only the skull cap and thigh bone were found.
We then go onto the Universe and the beginnings. One professor of astronomy at Cambridge, later named Astronomer Royal by Queen Elizabeth in 1995, Martin Rees said, when “the deep forces that shape the universe” are taken into consideration, the universe’s structure becomes “unlikely to an absurd degree.” There was much more to this idea but I’ll let you get the book. Wouldn’t want to spoil it for you.
Everything about this universe, this planet is dialed in at such a micro perfection and if even one itsy, bitsy thing were off by a percent it would be disastrous. Most scientist that really delve into the study of the universe and Evolution as atheist wind up believing in an Intelligent Creator at the least. It seems that science will actually lead some men to God.
And why not? Look about. Just take a leaf off a tree and analyze it. Look at the seasons and how perfectly orchestrated the Earth is when we don’t mess with its rhythms and flow. Look at all the amazing life and how it is sustained. Then look further into the night sky. If you take the time, it’s hard to believe that it all came about from a little gas and muck. And that is what many scientists are coming up with the more they try to prove evolution and that this planet just “came together”.
I like this book for its further opening of my mind and its exploration into the beautiful and incredible world that God has created for us all. I am struggling through the last 100 pages. Science and math have never been my thing.
I have just finished and returned this book and I will add that if you have any questions about Evolution, Darwin’s Theories, Creation, The Big Bang all the way through to the makeup of humans down to the cilia that move mucus and onward into our consciousness and soul…this is the book for you!
I will say this: if you are an atheist with questions, an agnostic who wants some answers, or like me, you were just on the fence and needed some serious evidence to cement your relationship with God, or you just need a deeper faith…get the book, read it all and then decide. If you need answers on Jesus and the Bible then Lee’s other books would be a great place to start. After every chapter he gives the reader more books and places to research further. You will have a master’s in this by the time you are done.
