It’s been a busy and productive year for the Singh family. We purchased our first home, which was a blessing and miracle right there. Arjan started homeschooling. I’m learning how to build my own food forest and tiny, mini farm. We have a new community and that includes all the amazing people I’ve met on this blog and now the YouTube Channel. It’s time for gifting! I love giving things away but I’ve already done that recently so I’ll put all the books at .99 cents since I can only do freebies every so many months. I’m setting … Continue reading Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!! All books .99 cents to the end of January. Let’s set some goals!
Recently I’ve begun another life transformation. This is my favorite compound word? Life transformation…hum, I think the words have to be connected. I’m being re-educated from Kindergarten up with my sons’ homeschooling. Ok, just looked it up and there are three types of a compound word; joined, hyphenated, and separate but making a new meaning. Lord, I’m gettin’ smart! So, let’s get back on track. I have been through a few life transformations. One when I began seeking ways to get closer to God. That one took years and years because I was raised atheist, if one can be raised as … Continue reading When a shift occurs with a life transformation.
Life has been different these days. Grannie moved out and I have been scrubbing and baking and decorating for days. We have our second bedroom back and the space was missed. Arjan and Sammy’s clothes and toys are all back in there, along with part of the old couch (the chaise lounge part, very fancy…not really), and my new indoor wooden drying rack I purchased from Pennsylvania Wood Workers. That thing is sturdy. I can have guest stay once more and no more piles of toys in my living room. Not as many piles, that is. And the living room. … Continue reading The housewife living in the Tao.
The definition of Hygge: Hygge (pronounced hue-guh not hoo-gah) is a Danish word used when acknowledging a feeling or moment, whether alone or with friends, at home or out, ordinary or extraordinary as cozy, charming or special. This was found on the website: http://hyggehouse.com/hygge It has come to my attention that this Hygge thing is becoming very popular. I see books on the subject popping up on Amazon in the homemaking sections. I also see minimalism thriving in those areas as well. I have actually read books on minimalism and decluttering such as Marie Kondos book The Life Changing Magic of Tidying … Continue reading Minimalism vs. Hygge.
I sat down yesterday to write up this piece and my internet went down. Ironic right? Most of the street was out until today and I’m sure many people were gnashing their teeth and tearing at their robes over it. The addiction with the media and technology is very high. We didn’t suffer. I had to stop blogging, obviously, but life for our household went on as usual. When the internet goes down we don’t even blink. We pick up one of our hundreds of paper books or go out to the backyard to play and garden. Grannie is a … Continue reading The conciencous housewife. How to be the solution and find peace in this modern day through a little old fashioned living.

My blogging book is done and out! Starting early this morning it will be free for the next 5 days. It is a plump book with a year’s worth of blogs on homemaking, frugal and green living, building a writing career while running a home, and plenty of advice on everything in between. There are 3 sections so you can skip around and choose what you’re in the mood to be inspired on. I only hope it is as fun to read as it was to write this last year. Continue reading The Housewife That Is a Writer.
I just read a sweet little book called, Living on His Income by Mrs. Sharon White. She has a delightful blog http://thelegacyofhome.blogspot.com/. I have really been enjoying all these new blogs by housewives lately. Being a housewife is a rare thing these days and can feel a bit isolating…that is until you find all these other women doing the same thing. I know not every woman can have this choice and that saddens me because it is a truly wonderful job and there are mothers out there that would love to stay home. I know that not every woman wants … Continue reading Being a housewife in this age and what a blessing it can be.
I was reading an article of a homemaker. She had become habitual about watching The Waltons and the show made her long for a slower paced life and all the sweetness that came with it. I used to watch that show in my childhood and I also was addicted to the Ingles on Little House on the Prairie. I was sort of obsessed with pioneers to be clear. I spent hours drawing log cabins and kitchen gardens, women in long aprons hanging laundry outside, babies crawling in the grass. I was also into writing back then. I would write and … Continue reading The benefits of a slower paced and old fashioned way of life.
God is something that I, as a human with my human limits, cannot really ever grasp in all His infinite, wise, mystical, magical, greatness. That is why there is Jesus. Jesus gives us something, someone that we can understand and communicate with. I was raised atheist but today I have a relationship with the Divine. I refer to God as Spirit, The Creator, Jesus…it’s all the same thing. We are connected to God at all times and can be guided, provided for, and protected by this Greatness if we just ask and choose. We have free choice. I also believe in … Continue reading Why having a relationship with God brings me peace and solace.
