It’s been a busy and productive year for the Singh family. We purchased our first home, which was a blessing and miracle right there. Arjan started homeschooling. I’m learning how to build my own food forest and tiny, mini farm. We have a new community and that includes all the amazing people I’ve met on this blog and now the YouTube Channel. It’s time for gifting! I love giving things away but I’ve already done that recently so I’ll put all the books at .99 cents since I can only do freebies every so many months. I’m setting … Continue reading Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!! All books .99 cents to the end of January. Let’s set some goals!
7 years ago I threw myself a 40th birthday. I’m not much for birthdays, however, 10-year increments seem worthy. They are milestones and we grow and change so much in our twenties, thirties, and forties that we need to celebrate this. I had a good life at 40. I lived in a charming and very pink victorian and I had a good job. Not so good on pay but I gained so much from this job in the way of education, health, and friends I still have to this day although the school has dwindled, switched hands and most of us have … Continue reading The blessings of being a housewife and making that choice to be one.
I don’t know what style of homeschooling that is occurring with us right now. Are we to consider ourselves free range? Unschooling? I can’t list the other ideas such as Waldorf or Montessori because we use online lessons and media to educate although we also garden, do forest walks, and are learning other languages. I can’t say public or charter because I decided against signing up with a structured school. I am definitely not Thomas Jefferson or Classic because we just have no real structure. My son is 5 years old. I have no intention of starting to … Continue reading Homeschooling the easy and joyful way.
I wrote a book called Dirt Poor and Lovin’ It! I now feel like I’m living the experiment. We are not dirt poor, however, we are preparing for an unstable future with not knowing if and when Bali will have to return to India and how long before we can bring him back. In the meantime, I am doing so many things that I have written about and now living my advice and my books in their full glory. It is crucial that we save every single penny for the future or we may be poor and not of choice. I … Continue reading Dirt poor by choice. And having fun with it!

Homemaking doesn’t have to be complicated. It can be easy and fun. You can even add Urban farming to it and have a thriving little farm right there in the town. Add homeschooling and you’re living like Little House on the Prairie. I was obsessed with Laura Ingles and her family. I was obsessed with pioneers too…as a child. Now I’m in my 40’s, live in town and I’m obsessed with the Amish. I love parts of their lifestyle, however, washing clothes by hand and no radio or long dresses in the summer doesn’t appeal to me. What does appeal … Continue reading Homemaking, urban farming, and homeschooling can be the best life ever. Ideas on keeping it simple.
This ebook will be free all this week! Happy Monday! Continue reading The Funky and Frugal Housewife FREE for the week!
These are photos of all the fun…well, only a few of all the fun things I do with my sons. I am so very fortunate to have the luxury of staying home with my boys, to be a housewife and to have the choice to homeschool. I realize that this life is not for everyone. It requires huge financial sacrifice, patience, lots of coffee, and the taste for repetition and monotony. Never boredom, I never get that, however, some days feel like that movie Ground Hogs Day where the character wakes up to the same day over and over and over. 95% … Continue reading How to thrive on one income and not miss all the good stuff.
